Trail Interpretation Tour

Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge


This tour takes place in one of the jewels of the Amistad Caribe Conservation Area, the "Guandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge". This place is known for being a mixed protected, that is protected between the state and civil society, where part of reserve is government owned and some is private property belonging to the locals. The tour is a hiking of 10km (5km each way) in the trail of the Manzanillo side, this trail has historically been the path for the villagers to different farms and properties present in the refuge.



This trail has an amazing biodiversity, every single corner is full of life in this tropical rain forest, the tourists can also enjoy lookout places with ocean views with a scenic beauty that just in South Caribbean of Costa Rica can be found. During the tour the trail crosses between beautiful beaches and forests, through giant trees like figs, kapok trees, and sand box trees. Also is able to see different species of animals such as white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, sloths, tayras, iguanas, basilisks, eyelashes vipers, woodpeckers, toucans, common black hawks and more, depending on what Mother Nature wants to show us.


During the activity de tourist will be always with one of ours naturalist tour guides who will make trail interpretation, explaining to the people about the dynamic of the ecosystem present in the refuge, and little bit about history and culture of the Costa Rica´s South Caribbean towns as well.
